BELT AND BUCKET ELEVATORS

Introduction
The Schenck Process Group, known throughout the world as the originators of 'En-Masse' handling, and manufacturers of top quality equipment for use within the grain and process industries, have the pleasure in presenting our RB range of Belt & Bucket Elevators. Developed specifically for the grain and derivative industry, the range encompasses five units up to a maximum throughput capacity of 400 t/h of wheat. The elevators have special features and benefits designed for the various industrial markets aimed at reducing material degradation and admix, plus the added advantage of 70 years knowledge giving excellent technical support to all customers.

Elevator Range
Machine Type Capacity Belt Speed
RB2210 40 t/h 3.15 m/s 620 ft/min
RB2213 80 t/h 3.15 m/s 620 ft/min
RB2218 130 t/h 3.15 m/s 620 ft/min
RB2228 220 t/h 3.15 m/s 620 ft/min
RB2240 400 t/h 3.15 m/s 620 ft/min

The above figures are based on the handling of dry wheat at a density of 46.8 lbs./ft3 (750 kg/m3).

For the handling of friable materials such as rice, malt or pellets, the elevator will be reduced in speed significantly to minimize degradation and offer the materials a smooth transfer through the Belt & Bucket Elevator.

The Schenck Process Group Belt and Bucket Elevator range is manufactured by utilizing some of the most modern and up to date laser cutting, computerized punching and forming tools. With the additional use of jigs and fixtures this enables a high degree of precision and accuracy during manufacture and assembly, both in the factory and on-site.

To assist with 'on-site' installation the Belt and Bucket Elevator casings are now supplied in 8 ft. (2.4 meter) lengths, which are easier to handle along with either a single leg or split leg design as indicated in the above chart.

Explosion Relief

The inclusion of Explosion Relief Panels is a serious issue. Consideration should be taken in the handling of materials which may produce levels of dust. When planning your project be aware that Schenck Process manufactures and supplies explosion-proof relief panels where recommended.

Elevator Specification

  • Head Section: Manufactured from .02 inches (.6 mm) quality steel, stiffened and flanged for accurate assembly. The head section comes complete with a removable top profiled section for quick access to the .23 inches (6 mm) thick rubber lagged pulley and shaft/bearing arrangement. The standard rubber lagged pulley assists the elevator for 'start up' under loaded conditions and contributes to good belt alignment.

  • Boot Section: Manufactured from .02 inches (.6 mm) quality steel flanged and stiffened for rigid construction and alignment. The elevator boot comes complete with a fabricated crowned pulley and shaft assembly with ample access. Inspection doors are incorporated with the boot design which also features a self cleaning boot arrangement as a standard feature. This helps minimize product degradation and admix. The elevator belt is tensioned via a screw arrangement on either side of the boot. Capacity is still achieved no matter what level the boot pulley is positioned.

  • Casing: Constructed from .03 inches (.66 mm) quality steel in 8 ft. (2.4 meter) sections. Flanged for true alignment and easy installation in a neatly designed single or split leg arrangement.

  • Belt: 3/4 Ply E.P.Elevator Belting consisting of polyester/polyamide woven low stretch carcase, with 1mm/1mm styrene butadiene rubber covers as standard with nitrile (oil resistant) covers being optional. Food quality or heat resistant belts are also available.

  • Buckets: Quality pressed steel buckets are designed to give maximum throughput, but still maintain the perfect fill and discharge characteristics. Optional plastic or stainless steel buckets are available by application.

  • Finish: Standard - Painted Blue Enamel: Optional - Galvanized steel or hot dip galvanized special paint finishes or corrosion resistant steels available by application.

  • Drive: Shaft mounted direct drive fitted with a brake motor or a vee belt drive arrangement utilizing a shaft mounted gearbox complete with backstop. Type of drive depends on elevator size although both utilize IP55 weatherproof motor units.

  • Optional Extras: The Schenck Process RoCon© unit acts as a rotation sensor when fitted to the tension shaft of the Elevator to detect either a drop in speed or a complete stop. Access Platforms are available in either a half or full section design complete with hooped safety ladder and rest platform where necessary.

  • Explosion Relief: All Schenck Process Elevators come complete with a hinged explosion relief door fitted with a limit switch adjacent to the head section of the elevator, plus a pair of explosion relief panels every 19.7 ft. (6 meters) or casing.
